Manitoba Crime Stoppers Website

What is Manitoba Crime Stoppers?

We are a community-supported program involving a successful partnership between police, media and citizens working together to solve criminal activities in Manitoba.

We serve the citizens of rural Manitoba, outside of the cities of Brandon and Winnipeg. In the past 23 years, Manitoba Crime Stoppers has received over 10,894 tips on criminal activities in this province.

Manitoba Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization administered by volunteers with all costs and reward money accumulated through fund raising activities and donations from businesses, communities and private citizens.

Thank you for your support!

How does Crime Stoppers work?

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The tip information you provide helps to solve and deter crime and makes our communities safer.  Citizens who have information on an unsolved crime are encouraged to call the Crime Stoppers toll free # 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip via the secure web link on this Manitoba Crime Stoppers site.  Crime Stoppers tip lines are accessible 24/7, 365 days a year.

All information gathered is passed along to local authorities.

Tips solve crimes!

When you call Crime Stoppers you will never be asked to provide your name or any personal information.  You will not be asked to give a statement to police or testify in court.

The anonymous tip line is not traceable and we do not subscribe to caller ID or call display.  The software on this site provides tipsters with an electronic form to fill out which is then submitted to Manitoba Crime Stoppers. Web tips are completely anonymous through the use of MYSQL server technology.

When you call the Crime Stoppers tips line, you are given a tip number. YOU initiate all contact with Crime Stoppers and it is up to you to call back to check on the status of the information you gave (using your tip number) to see if you qualify for a cash award. You can add new information to your tip anytime by quoting your tip number.  If the information leads the resolution of a crime, you are eligible for a cash award.

After you submit the TIP, wait about one month and then contact Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.  Once the investigation is complete, we will tell you the results of your tip and whether you qualify for an award. In order to protect your anonymity; DO NOT share your tip number with anyone. DO NOT tell people you have provided a tip or received an award.   All awards are paid out using a system designed to maintain your anonymity.

NEW... Completely Anonymous!!
Crime Stoppers programs embrace new technology.

Tipsters can now anonymously submit tips by TEXT MESSAGING.

Along with our 1-800-222 (TIPS) line, tipsters can report information about any non-urgent illegal activity, via our secure WebTips application (Anderson Software) and now we accept anonymous tips via Text Messaging.
(For Emergencies call 911).

Anderson Software has built the TipSoft Short Message Service (SMS) specifically to allow text messaging tipsters to remain anonymous by encrypting the text messages and routing them through several secure servers, protecting the personal details of the tipster.

Sending a SMS Text Tip:

1 - Text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637)

2 - Upon reception of a tipster’s first incoming message, the system will auto-reply with a confirmation containing their unique Tip ID #.

That auto-reply message would read: "Msg rcvd. Your alias is ####. Call 911 if emergency! Reply anytime. Delete your tip for safety.Txt STOP to end replies/HELP for info. StdMsgChrgsApply."

3 - To submit follow-up information, simply reply. Nothing else is needed.

4 - All follow-up information on tips and even your replies are written under the original parent record and shown threaded and date/time stamped in the narrative.

This secure application allows the tipster and Crime Stoppers to have two-way dialog while always keeping the user’s identity completely anonymous.

An opt-out can be requested at any time by sending the keyword STOP” to CRIMES.

You can text HELP” to CRIMES to get instructions on how to use SMS Crime Tips on your cell phone.
